Tampa Bay September Fishing Report

September is the last month of summer here in the Tampa bay area.  Water temperatures in the bay will slowly begin to drop and this will get the fish to start thinking about where they will live for the upcoming winter (as if we really have a winter, LOL). As the sun moves further south we start to get a little reprieve from the stifling heat and humidity as well.  It is still going to be hot for fishing though!  The redfish bite has been exceptional and will only get better into the fall.  Traditionally I like to take the month of September as my “vacation month”.  It is the last month of our slow period and I like to head to the beach and spend some time relaxing before the season starts.  Soon the big schools of redfish will show up and they along with the Snook will start feeding aggressively as everything gets ready for the colder weather that normally arrives in November-December.  So the next few months will be some of the best fishing we have here in Tampa. So let’s get ready and come catch some fish!
